PostmodernGypsies - Ages

PostmodernGypsies, a father & son Jazz Duo from St. Louis, Missouri, has released their song ‘Ages’ — a lovingly nostalgic jazz piece that perfectly encapsulates fond memories. The vast imagery can be described as an intimate late-night jazz club with close friends, glasses clinking, & smoky rooms. Thanks to the dynamic instrumentation, it can also be seen as a beach-front getaway — cigars lit & not a care in the world.

The piano & saxophone are perfectly complimentary. The keys hold a solid foundation while still being playful, and the sax coerces the tune forward into more uncharted territory. The punchy drums keep the rhythm of the bass in check, offering room to breathe & be adventurous, but leaving a rope behind to take it back home. The mix is something to brag about — soothe meets groove meets power in this dynamic fusion of tones. Personally I admire the timestamp 1:15 — where the saxophone strays into new lands & is prepared to take you on a journey alongside it.

‘Ages’ is a venture into a new mood in comparison to their previous releases. ‘Urban Pastorale’ is an eclectic track fit for a productive, sunny day whereas ‘Remembering Tomorrow’ offers more of a Melancholy tone. All beautiful in their own respect, PostmodernGypsies have found their way into fitting any environment, & I’m sure they’ll only continue to cover more bases.

You can absolutely tell this release was a labor of love. The attention to detail is impeccable, & the performance is outstanding. I highly recommend ‘Ages’ to anyone looking to release control & take a journey. You won’t be disappointed. This song belongs on both happy & carefree, as well as sophisticated & intimate playlists. I look forward to hearing more from PostmodernGypsies.
